First, let’s check our heroine’s general characteristics.
Sky Princess is the fourth representative of Princess Cruises’ Royal Class of cruise liners. She has a tonnage of 141,000 GT and a capacity of 3,660 cruise lovers and 1,346 crew members.
The newbuild has 18 decks. The total number of cabins is 1,834. We should note that the ship has the company’s newest stateroom category – Sky Suites. These are Princess Cruises’ largest cabins with the largest balconies at sea (over 1,000-square-foot).
Sky Princess ship has numerous dining and entertainment venues, areas for kids and teens, places to enjoy shopping, play sports, relax, sing, dance, and more.
The ship’s delivery is scheduled for October 2019. As we have already mentioned, she will depart on her maiden voyage on October 20, 2019. Sky Princess will spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean, and in December 2019, the newbuild will reposition to Port Everglades to offer sailings in the Caribbean. Then Sky Princess will spend the summer 2020 season discovering Northern Europe and will reposition to New York to operate New England voyages in fall 2020.
It’s such an eventful start of the career, isn’t it?
Well, now let’s talk about the history of the liner’s construction and check several exciting Sky Princess photos.
The Sky Princess steel cutting ceremony was held at Fincantieri shipyard on September 8, 2017.
On July 5, 2018, Princess Cruises and Fincantieri celebrated the ship’s keel laying.

Sky Princess was floated out from dry dock on February 14, 2019. By the way, that was a special date for the whole cruise industry. Princess Cruises and Fincantieri celebrated Sky Princess float out, Enchanted Princess keel laying, and the steel cutting for the sixth representative of the Royal Class that day.
Work is in progress.
