We missed stories about new cruise ships under construction. You, too, we suppose. Today we’re going to visit Shipyard De Hoop in the Netherlands, where the Silversea Cruises’ newbuild,

Silver Origin

, is almost ready to join her fleet.

Silver Origin ship is the cruise line’s first destination-specific cruise liner. She is designed for the Galapagos Islands expedition sailings. The vessel has a tonnage of 5,800 GT and a capacity of 100 travelers and 90 crew members. Silver Origin will accommodate her guests in 51 suits.

Silversea Cruises and Shipyard De Hoop cut the first steel for Silver Origin on October 8, 2018.

On February 6, 2019, the cruise line celebrated the keel-laying ceremony.

Silver Origin will have several dining venues, a Fitness Center, a Spa, an Explorer Lounge, 8 Zodiacs, and many other features. You can check the Silver Origin deck plan via this link.
Well, we cannot wait to look inside this beautiful cruise ship.


She was scheduled to join her family in March 2020. However, the situation made adjustments. But we are not discouraged. Construction is continuing. Anticipation is rising. Silver Origin is getting ready to enter service. Things are getting better.
