Papeete

 is the capital of Polynesia. The island is large and the beautiful city is home to the

Notre Dame Cathedral

. We were there until midnight, so after dinner, we went for a walk and accidentally stumbled upon the Cathedral. People going there were well-dressed. We also went there and saw a beautiful performance that was even filmed by a TV crew.
In the morning, we took our 4WD Jeep on a tour through the jungle, to swim in the waterfalls and explore the local flora ($110 in 2014).
