NCL

has quite many nice vessels, but today we’d like to talk about the

. Here are some facts that most people might not know.

1. Norwegian Spirit wasn’t NCL’s ship at first. She was built in Germany for the Star Cruises company which acquired NCL later. Since 2004 Norwegian Spirit has been in NCL’s possession.

2. The ship wasn’t always called “Norwegian Spirit.” She was formerly called SuperStar Leo. Who knows, maybe it’s because young Leonardo DiCaprio was among the first lucky ones to sail on her? ;)

3. Unfortunately, three collisions and damages happened to the Norwegian Spirit ship. First, she hit Juneau pier in 2005, then she hit the New York Harbor pier in 2007, and in 2011 she hit a pier in Mexico. Do not worry, all the damages have been fixed by now.

4. Several Norwegian Spirit ship details: the vessel has 14 decks and can accommodate 1996 passengers. There are 965 crew members.

5. When the ship was being designed, they thought she would mainly serve Asian clients. Which is why the ship’s height is slightly less than of other ships. The decks seem narrower too.

6. SuperStar Virgo is Norwegian Spirit’s twin sister. The first one, though, doesn’t belong to NCL. She’s the Star Cruises ship.

7. Norwegian Spirit operates two types of cruises now: a 12-night cruise to the Mediterranean and a 9-night cruise to the Canary Islands.

8. In 2012 Norwegian Spirit was featured in 21 Jump Street movie.
